Back mount escape

BJJ Universe’s associate and black belt of 11 years under Team Alliance Academy in Maryland, USA, Mike Vicioustacion shows us in this 3-minute long video how to escape from back mount control, and end up in side-controlling your opponent.

Throwing multiple different escape attempts at your opponent will help increase your chances of getting out of the bad position. Some instructors teach this escape and have you turn up into the top position, but you wind up having to deal with the closed guard.

In this video, Mike shares some details that will help you end up on top, but in side-control instead. For most people, the technique demonstrated in this video is their 1st option when escaping the back mount. Make sure to also check the option 2, which is Mike’s favorite.
