BJJ Universe’s associate and black belt of 11 years under Team Alliance Academy in Maryland, USA, Mike Vicioustacion shows us in this 3-minute long video how to escape from footlock position, and end up in mounting your opponent or even armbaring him.
The key point to this technique is to use your non-attacked knee in getting rid of his top attacking leg, thus creating the space for efficiently stopping the footlock submission and going into the mount position. If he tries to prevent you with his arm from getting the mount, you can use that situation to efficiently armbar him/her.
This is definitely an alternative and very interesting approach of escaping a footlock, which may surprise your opponent and cause him to make another mistake, leading to being submitted.
